{Q} What kind of camera/equipment do you use?
{A} I currently use a Canon Digital Rebel XTi along with a Tamron 17-35mm wideangle lens, a 50mm 1.8 lens, and a Lensbaby.
{Q} Do you use Photoshop / what version of Photoshop do you use / how much Photoshop do you apply to your pictures?
{A}Yes, I Photoshop, and I'm not ashamed to admit it! I do not consider my
photographs to be finished pieces of work until I have edited them. I
use CS3 and Photoshop 7. I generally only enhance the colors, the
contrast, and sometimes add a texture.
{Q} What are copyrights / what does it mean to purchase them?
{A} Copyrights are the rights to duplicate and distribute a piece of work. I, as an artist, hold the copyrights to ALL of my photographs. It is illegal to make your own prints and copies of the work UNLESS you have paid for the copyright. When you buy copyrights, you receive high-resolution copies of images on a disc. You can use them to make as many prints as you want at any size up to a 24x36.
{Q} Can I purchase prints from you / why do you no longer sell prints / where can I get high quality prints of my pictures?
{A} No, I do not currently sell prints from commissioned shoots. I made the decision to sell only copyrights for several reasons. Mostly, it is just more convenient for both myself and the customer for them to have the copyright. Also, it cuts down on the number of illegal copies of my work that are produced. If you're looking for a nice place to get your pictures made, www.mpix.com does excellent work for reasonable prices. I fully recommend them.
{Q} I want to model for you, will you take my pictures for free?
{A} I only do a few conceptual shoots a year, and I generally prefer to
work with people whom I am familiar with on such projects. However, I'm
also always looking for new and interesting faces for my concepts so if
you're interested in doing TFP, send me a message by all means. :)
{Q} How did you get so good at photography / did you go to school for it?
{A} I am proud to say that I am completely self-taught. I went to IADT
Nashville for one semester, but they were not giving me the kind of
education that I expected so I quit. All of my knowledge has been
attained through a little research and a whole lot of practice.
{Q} Will you teach me how to use my camera?
{A} I am actually planning on putting together a week-long photography
class during the summer. Check back for more information if you're
interested.
